System Optimisation Service

Why would you need to have your PC optimised?

When you start out with your shiny new PC, everything is fine. All components are new and the hard drive should be junk free. There will be no spyware or adware to contend with and all the device drivers for your system will be up to date.

After a few months of use, your PC will start to accumalate internet debris such as spyware, adware or temporary internet files. This build-up of unneeded files begins to fill the space on your hard drive making it run slower than before.

As more and more files are scattered across your hard drive and you continue to add music, photos and personal data, the computer will begin to slow down. Many of the device drivers for the hardware in your computer may become outdated and need replacing.

Periodically software companies will also release security patches or bug fixes for the software on your PC. Many of these patches can help applications to start and run faster and more effectively.

The mainboard or motherboard in your computer feature what is known as a BIOS. The BIOS is stored in a small flash memory chip. When you first turn on your computer the bios perfforms a set of tests to ensure all the necessary components are present. The bios also features advanced settings for your hardware that can help your PC run faster if set to optimum settings.

PC Guardians can set your hardware to the best settings for performance.

Your hard drive holds vast amounts of information which is constantly accessed and changed every time you use your computer. Over time the layout of the files on your hard drive becomes unorganised and files can be scattered everywhere on the drive. For best performance the files should be organised as close together as possible (contiguous). This decreases the time taken for the computer to access the files and information.

This can be achieved using a process called "defragmentation", which you may have heard about. Basically all files are moved around, reorganised into an orderly fashion before being rewritten to a different section of the hard drive. Hard drive defragmentation is part of the optimisation service we offer.

PC Guardians optimisation service includes the above menioned tasks and includes many more tweaks to get your computer running at its optimal speed.

Obviously the age and specification of your computer play a key part in determining how much optimising can achieve for you. For example if your computer is 5 years old or more then you may not benefit from the service at all.

There are other avenues to look at if your machine is quite old but you are not ready to replace it just yet. The memory or ram may be increased, giving you a noticeable performance increase. Your processor may be upgradable depending on the age of the system.

Older processors are now obsolete but can be found second hand on auction sites such as ebay for relatively low cost.
